There was a girl in my college class who never said a word.

She came to class, sat quietly, took notes, and listened to everything the teacher said.
Whenever the teacher asked her a question, she simply remained silent.
At first, most of us assumed she was shy.
Nobody really thought much about it.
Then one day, the teacher finally lost his patience.
He asked her another question, and once again, she didn’t answer.
The teacher became visibly frustrated.
He looked at her and said,
“Did no one ever teach you how to speak?”

He had never stopped to consider that there might be a reason she couldn’t answer him.

Everyone had been sitting there watching her remain quiet without ever asking why.
And the teacher, who had just embarrassed her in front of the entire class, was now the one standing there without anything to say.
The girl put the marker down and returned to her seat.
She didn’t make a scene.
She didn’t need to.
Her few words on the whiteboard had already said everything.

We saw a quiet student.
The teacher saw someone who wouldn’t answer him.
